Our Story
Built for Listening
What started as the Community Church Coffeehouse 25 years ago has become something rare — an intimate listening room where Grammy and IBMA award winners, folk legends, and rising stars come to play, and audiences come back, year after year.

Tony Rice at the Coffeehouse, 2003.

The next generation takes the stage: Asher Brinson and Heaven McCoury.
More than Music
There's something special about hearing great music in a room where everyone is really listening. The noise of everyday life falls away, and for a little while, it's just the musicians, the audience, and whatever happens between them.
Community Church Concerts is a labor of love, put on by volunteers who love the music as much as the people in the seats do. They're the ones welcoming you at the door, making the musicians feel at home, and carrying on traditions that have grown up around the concerts over the years.
It's a little different from your average concert. And we like it that way.
“…like being invited into somebody's home for a really, really good concert.”

In Tune with the Community
The Community Church of Chapel Hill was founded in 1953 in direct opposition to racial segregation, led by Reverend Charlie Jones. The congregation helped establish the first integrated preschool in North Carolina. For over 70 years, this church has been a welcoming place for all people and a center for justice and service in our community. Community Church Concerts is part of that tradition, and concert proceeds help sustain this ongoing work.
