Be Part of the Show
Community Church Concerts runs on volunteers - and the perks are pretty good.

The merch table. The cupcake. The volunteer badge. In that order.
Cupcake Powered
Every show you've enjoyed here happened because a small crew of volunteers showed up a few hours early. They parked your car, checked you in, handed you a cupcake at intermission, and made the whole evening feel effortless. If you've ever wondered how to get a little closer to the action - this is how.

The Perks
Volunteers who work a show receive free admission and a cupcake at intermission. Depending on your role and when you arrive, you may also join the band and crew for dinner - one of the quieter perks of show day that our regulars know about and look forward to.

Katie and her world-famous apple cake
Katie's Kitchen
For most of the past 25 years, a volunteer named Katie kept our bands fed. Her apple cake developed a quiet following among the artists who passed through - the kind of thing that gets mentioned years later, unprompted, by musicians who've played hundreds of venues and remember very few kitchens.
"Ms. Katie and her WORLD-FAMOUS apple cake. It was deeeeeeelish!" - Becky Buller, 10-Time IBMA award winner.
She's retired now, and we miss her. The tradition she built is in good hands with our new volunteer chef team, who have taken up the mantle with real enthusiasm.

What Volunteers Do
Roles vary by show and by what's needed — which is part of what makes volunteering here interesting. Some people come in early for load-in and set-up. Others arrive closer to doors. A few stay late for teardown. Most volunteers work a few hours and stay for the full performance. We'll match you to a role that fits.
• Parking — Guide arriving guests and assist with accessibility needs
• Hospitality Ambassador — Be the first friendly face our artists see when they arrive. Oversee the green room, make sure performers have everything they need before and after the show, and deliver the occasional cupcake. Part host, part wrangler, 100% VIP.
• Lobby — Check in guests, keep things moving, be the first face people see
• Intermission — Cupcake sales, making coffee, cashiering
• Usher — Help guests find seats, answer questions, and make sure everyone's settled before showtime. A great way to see how it all works from the inside.
• Load-in / Setup — Work alongside our sound crew; good if you want a closer look at how it all comes together
• Tear Down — Help put everything away and get the band on the road
• Marketing — We can use whatever talents you bring. Graphic design, social media, photography, writing — if you've got a skill and love live music, let's talk.

A Note Worth Mentioning
You don't need to be a church member to volunteer — or to attend. In fact, many of our most dedicated crew members have no connection to the church at all. Community Church Concerts is a fundraiser for the Community Church of Chapel Hill, a cause we're proud to support. But the concerts are open to everyone, and so is the volunteer crew. Good music and good company are the only prerequisites.
Get Involved
Drop us a note at tickets@communitychurchconcerts.org and tell us a little about yourself and which show interests you. We'll be in touch before the season starts.
A few of the specialists who make our shows look and sound this good aren't volunteers in the traditional sense — they're talented people who believe in what we do. Our sound is in the hands of Jeremy Haire, head of production at Cat’s Cradle. Our cupcakes come from our baker and ‘cupcake queen’, Tina Cochran. And most of the nice photography you see on this site was shot by our friend Brandi Leigh of Brandi Leigh Photography. The rest? Let's just say we did our best.
